Imagine you’re a talented designer. You’ve brought a gorgeous brewery brand into the world, nurtured it as the company grew, and can proudly say you’ve designed cans for award-winning beers, menus for delicious food and pubs customers love to hang out in. Now you’re tasked with bringing that brand online, but you’re not too familiar with designing for the web. That’s the daunting position Wes, lead designer at Pinthouse, was in.

Collaborating on a smooth handover and sweating the design details

Our solution was to collaborate with Wes as he designed the new website. We had frequent check in calls to guide him through best practices, avoiding common pitfalls and ensuring things an efficient build. By the end of this Wes had an awesome Figma file set up which ensured a smooth handover with no curveballs during development.

We’re known for being careful shepherds of design-led brands, with developers who sweat the details. But it’s still daunting for marketing teams to hand over the keys to their brand. Our process put Pinthouse at ease, with regular check-ins during development and sensible windows for quality assurance – nothing launched unless they were 100% happy.

‘Beer on tap’ powered by OLO

Pinthouse wanted to keep customers up to date with live status of what’s on tap at each of their venues. They already had this information in OLO, so rather than maintain it in two places we built an integration which pulls this information through to Craft. Now customers can see exactly when their favourite beers are available, without any extra admin overhead for Pinthouse.

Event and beer releases

Pinthouse pubs have a lot going on (and not just quiz nights or beer launches – plant swap or sculpture class, anyone?). We built a simple events system which is easy for admins to manage and lets users find events by type and location.

Flexible block-based page builder

Our block based page builder is powered by the wonderful Craft CMS, a flexible content management system which is a breeze for authors to use. It allows Pinthouse to assemble building blocks designed by Wes, into engaging pages which handle a wide range of content.

A menu which looks as good as it tastes

We love this part of the site – a fully content-managed food menu, beautifully designed by Wes with flourishes inspired by their physical menu, which is also straightforward for authors to update.

Cans you‘ll want to pick up

Pinthouse are understandably proud of their award-winning ‘core brands’ and wanted to showcase these in an engaging way without breaking the bank. We collaborated with Wes on this simple but high impact approach – he provided us with a video file containing frames of the cans from every angle, and we made these rotate as users scroll down the page.
